January is national “Get Organized Month” and many of us are making resolutions to clean out the clutter and get organized in 2017. Dale’s Remodeling’s design team recently gifted our clients with The Complete Book of Home Organization to help them get their decluttering projects off to a great start and we want to help you, too, with these three easy steps.

1. Divide and Conquer

If your decluttering job has you feeling overwhelmed before you even begin, compartmentalize the work into smaller tasks for a low-stress start. Take on one shelf, drawer or closet at a time and work your way through each one at your own pace. By breaking down the jobs into smaller projects you’ll be able to make better decisions on what to keep and what to get rid of.

2. 4 Categories: Use, Store, Recycle, Toss

Before you start your decluttering project set yourself up for success with four designated spots to categorize your stuff. Once you establish which items to use, store, recycle, or toss, you’ll be well on your way to an organized home. Afterward, consider adding a custom-made recycling station in your kitchen or mudroom to keep clutter from sneaking back into your home.

3. Customize Storage Solutions

Invite order into your home with storage that’s built to fit your needs. You’ll be surprised by the many options available to you when you add custom-built storage units into the overlooked spaces of your home. Stylish hardware and innovative design can increase the amount of your home’s storage space and add interest and beauty to your overall design.
