The objection of the project was to expand three individual existing spaces separated by bearing walls; including the kitchen, dining room and living room, into one large, open layout with innovative space solutions and functionality, while implementing the client’s personal  “funky” style.

The client’s personality was implemented using bright colors that flow together nicely, including green Ann Sacks tile with a ceiling-height backsplash behind the hood/range. Barn wood wall panels in the dining area brought a lot of texture into the space as a whole.

The lighting was enhanced dramatically with accent lighting and under cabinet lighting while implementing personal style with creative Edison-style light fixtures and placement of accent lighting. Additional seating space was added to the dining area with a long breakfast nook style bench seating with custom upholstery to match the adjoining living room furniture.

Other specific features important to the client included a large cooking and prep space; this was met by adding the center island for prep work with a second sink and a large baking area with a dual oven, pot-filler and roll-out microwave drawer. A hot cold water dispenser was installed with both sinks. Bright colored decorative knobs were added for a pop of contrasting color.
